Lee County Schools Cadet Squadron is a part of the Civil Air Patrol’s Middle Schools Initiative. Civil Air Patrol is the United States Air Force Auxiliary. Civil Air Patrol is tasked by the Air Force with three missions, Emergency Services (Search & Rescue), Aerospace Education and Cadet Programs. The unit was reorganized as a schools cadet squadron in the spring of 2004. For the ten years prior the unit was known as Dolphin Flight, Lee County Cadet Squadron.

The Civil Air Patrol provides the opportunity for students that have either completed the 5th grade and obtained age 12 to participate in the adventure. Students that are in the program are referred to as cadets. Cadets develop leadership skills, learn about aerospace, participating in many aerospace activities, work in community service projects, are introduced to emergence services such as search and rescue techniques, radio procedures, land navigation, first aid and much more.
