Squadron Email Notes for Cadets, Senior Members and Parents
DATE SUBJECT SENDER NOTES
18 Jan 2010 First Aid Training 1Lt Hensley
Hello Everyone,
I am very excited about our next training on Saturday, February 13, 2010.  Cape Coral Fire Department is providing us with CPR and First Aid training.  This will be held at one of the fire stations in Cape Coral.  Cadets and senior members who attend will become CPR and first aid certified and will receive certification cards.  There is no cost to the cadets and senior members who attend.  The Cape Coral Fire Department is picking up the cost for the class, the certification cards and the time for the instructors.
This is a great opportunity and everyone is encouraged to attend.  Please reply to this email by January 30, 2010 if you are planning to attend.  I will open this training up to other units if we do not fill the spots.  Another email will be sent out, once I have a count on how many will be attending, with more details on transportation and times.
Again, thank you for everything you do to support our unit!!

18 Jan 2010 Emergency Service Training 1Lt. Hensley
    Hello Parents and Cadets,
I am very proud of all the cadets that attended the training this past Saturday.  Everyone did a great job.  We filled the four hours with lots of useful information and everyone seemed very excited about learning.  As a Civil Air Patrol unit, we train for search and rescue missions but, most of what we learn will be used throughout our lives.
I encourage all of you to use these skills while outside of the unit.  Map reading can be very useful and even fun while on a trip with your family.  Or, take a compass with you next time you go canoeing or walking on a trail. Practice makes perfect.
Again, great job to all that attended.

18 Jan 2010 Special Thanks 1Lt. Hensley
I would like to send out a special thanks to Senior Member Wardrop for providing pizza and drinks for the cadets this past Saturday.  This was above and beyond and I believe should be recognized.
 Thank you so much!!

10 Jan 2010 Uniforms 1Lt. Hensley
Part of the Civil Air Patrol program is learning leadership skills and responsibility.  A huge part of those leadership skills is leading by example.  I have noticed lately that some of the cadets are not wearing their uniforms to the squadron meetings.  I would like to take this opportunity to ensure everyone is on the same page when it comes to this issue.
If a cadet does not wear their uniform to CAP activities, including meetings, they will not be able to participate as their duty position or rank.  Cadets will still be able to participate but, not in their current position. Imagine a football player showing up not wearing his uniform. He would be sitting on the bench.  This is not to exclude anyone but, for our cadets to learn to lead by example and work on being more responsible.  If you or your cadet is unable to wear their uniform, please notify me ahead of time.
I found this on a CAP Wing web site, I don't think I could have written it better myself.
"When you join CAP, you take an oath to wear the uniform properly. The Air Force prescribes the way that we wear "their" uniform and accessories. If CAP members fail to wear the uniforms properly, this shows disrespect for the uniform and reflects badly on CAP and the Air Force. This is unacceptable for a CAP member. Proper uniform wear shows self-discipline, develops teamwork, and develops a sense of "Esprit de Corps".  "Esprit de Corps" is that level of morale and sense of pride that comes from being part of unit or organization that excels."
Please refer to CAP Manual 39-1 for proper uniform wear and grooming.

Thank you,
